Abstract
Türkiye recently declared a vision called the “Century of Türkiye” amid economic crisis and diplomatic rifts. This vision draws on the context of 'identity politics' that has been utilized from the first President to the current one. Throughout the nation-building process, Türkiye has consistently employed identity politics for national unity and crisis mitigation. This paper analyzes the background and content of Türkiye's discourse on identity politics, which has been utilized in various forms, and how narratives and framing have been constructed from a theoretical perspective. In particular, to discuss identity politics, Türkiye's diverse and complex identities will be distinguished at each level. Contextual analysis of this discourse is necessary for analyzing Türkiye's diplomatic principles and long-term strategies. It will also serve as foundational material to strengthen supra-national cooperation and communication with Türkiye in Korean diplomacy.
