Abstract
The article actualizes the humanistic pathos of the legacy of the prominent scientist, educator Yuri Andreevich Zhdanov, known as the rector of Rostov State University. In his works, great attention is paid to the problem of humanism and the education of the younger generation. Culture as a technology of human activity is the basis of upbringing, education and production of scientific knowledge. The scientist foresaw that culture is the sphere that is affected from the outside. And it is she who is the defining "core", thanks to which societies preserve themselves. All natural science and humanities nourish culture with their ideas, thereby determining the value vector of civilizations.
