Abstract

The article reveals the main trends in the express delivery market in Ukraine. Special attention is focused on the stages of development of this market segment. The following key aspects are highlighted: from the first stages of globalization to the Internet era, the development of the Internet and e-commerce, development during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each stage is described in detail, and its characteristic features are revealed. The importance of activation of delivery services due to the increase in the number of orders through online stores is emphasized. The main postal operators in the express delivery market of Ukraine are presented. At the same time, delivery terms, the availability of a mobile application, a loyalty program, international delivery, fulfillment, and transportation of oversized cargo are considered. Among these operators: Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta, Meest Express, Justin, Delivery, Avtolyuks, Zruchna, Delfast. The activities of each of the postal operators that have a significant impact on the express delivery market are described in detail. Their comparative analysis was carried out, in particular, the last two operators (Zruchna, Delfast), which offer address delivery, but do not have a significant number of branches (such as Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta), were analyzed in detail. At the same time, the delivery speed of these delivery operators is the highest. Taking into account today's challenges, the key elements of the impact of the negative aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic and military operations are demonstrated on the example of postal operators Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta, Meest Express, and Delivery. The possibilities of overcoming these negative phenomena are highlighted separately. A new direction in the activities of postal operators during military operations is outlined – this is the formation and optimization of humanitarian flows, in which postal couriers are involved in the transportation of humanitarian goods for volunteers, philanthropists, public organizations, civilians and military. In order to harmonize the activities of operators of the express delivery market, a number of recommendations have been developed for successful functioning in crisis situations, in particular, the expansion of both the domestic and international market; constant monitoring of the express delivery market and timely response to its challenges; use of innovative technologies in their activities; formation of long-term partnerships with online stores.
