Abstract

The research identifies and analyzes the strategies for generating personal revenue used by elderly people in China. The purpose of the study is to determine the personal budgeting strategies of the elderly in the People’s Republic of China. The methodological basis involves such areas of sociology as structuralism and network approach. These areas are outlined in relation to the assessment of the situation of elderly people in society. In addition, the study describes the relationship of this social group with society as a whole. An in-depth semi-structured interview has become an empirical method of data collection. In total, nine basic strategies have been identified that are typical for elderly residents of the city and village, men and women. The research notes that these strategies differ from the budgeting strategies of elderly people in Western countries.
