Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify certain aspects of mentoring activities on the example of the Chechen State Pedagogical University. Mentoring is the most economical and effective method available for personal and professional development of the individual. We consider the necessity and importance of returning the institute of mentoring to the educational environment, the requirements for the personal and professional characteristics of the mentor. Considered tactics of pedagogical support (O.S. Gazman) should contain four tactical areas of activity: protection, support, assistance and cooperation. The study focuses on the successful mentoring activities of a junior year and senior student. This form of mentoring activity seems to us effective due to the proximity of age, biological rhythm, similarity of interests, goals, aspirations, physical capabilities. The study presents the results of a survey among students of 1–2 courses of the Chechen State Pedagogical University on mentoring. The survey indicators showed that the largest part of the respondents (about 60 %) would like to have a mentor for the duration of their studies; about 47 % of respondents want to see a senior student as their mentor; about 38 % believe that a lecturer will be the best mentor for them. The experience of a lecturer and senior students in the role of a mentor can be successfully applied in any educational organization.
