Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the present study is to develop and validate the competitive anxiety questionnaire of golf players.BR Method: 621 golf players participated in this study. Data for qualitative research were collected by open-ended questionnaires and specially designed in-depth interview, while quantitative research data were obtained through self-determination. The data were analyzed through SPSS 20 and AMOS 20. The results of this study are as follows.BR Results: Firstly, in competition anxiety, the four general dimensions were identified such as cognitive anxiety, performance anxiety, environmental anxiety, and physical anxiety. Secondly, after eliminating 16 items through reliability analysis, and exploratory factor analysis, the four factors with 24 items of competitive anxiety of golf players were extracted, and through confirmatory factor analysis the conformity index for competitive anxiety tool was confirmed. Thirdly, The developed questionnaire for golf player’s competitive anxiety secured external validity through convergence validity, construct equivalence verification and latent mean analysis.BR Conclusion: It is expected that the golf players’ competitive anxiety questionnaire not only measures the player’s anxiety, but also can provide practical information to promote players’ performance improvement.
