Abstract

The purpose of this study is to interpret changes in roles in the society through life history research by tracing the activity trajectories of the three research participants at the early societies. The method of this paper performed the holistic primary coding of Lieblich, Tuval-Mashiach, & Zilber (1998) to draw the story line, and the secondary coding based on the longitudinal qualitative data analysis matrix of Saldana(2009). The procedure was applied. The specific results consisted of three themes: first, ‘taking the first step in the establishment of a society,’ second, ‘excellent industry-university connection and the Food Service Industry Promotion Act’, third, ‘the development of the society is the development of the restaurant industry’, and nine subcategories. The results of this paper can provide a win-win idea and insight for cooperation between academia, industry, and related government ministries for the development of the food service industry by capturing the successful foundation and initial operation mechanism of the 'Foodservice Management Society of Korea'.
