Abstract

Enhancing dietary patterns in the population of Russia is an extremely urgent task due to the need to improve the quality of life and reduce the risk of alimentary-dependent diseases, which are currently the most important medical and social problem. The epidemic of obesity observed in recent decades requires the development of new approaches to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this disease and its numerous complications. An essential factor in the recovery of this category of patients is adequate diet therapy, providing the right balance of the main macro- and micronutrients and enriched with several biologically active compounds that affect the adaptation and recovery capabilities of the body. To increase the effectiveness of nutritional support and to solve all the tasks set to normalize the metabolic status, it is advisable to include in the diet of this category of patients a wide range of specialized food products for therapeutic and preventive nutrition, sources of protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids, dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals, including antioxidants, bioactive compounds from plant origin and others.
