Abstract
The article examines the role of innovation in achieving sustainable socio-economic development of the Russian railway transportation. Outlined the prospects and advantages of development of high-speed highways in Ukraine as a strategic guideline of innovative activity of the enterprises of railway transport, in particular, determined that the introduction of high-speed movement will give impetus to the scientific and technical development and improvement of technologies at the enterprises of railway transport, and in almost all related industries, from engineering to computational intelligence systems, providing further stimulation of scientific-technical and intellectual potential of the country. Revealed key areas of innovation. It is concluded that at the present stage of management require urgent modernization of technical and technological, organizational and managerial and scientific personnel components of the economic potential of the railway industry. It identifies main principles of effective innovation and investment activity of the enterprises of railway transport.
