Abstract

Zhou Gong's “Ritual Management and Music Creation” is one of the most important milestones in the history of China. As a reformer of Yin rituals and the main predecessor of Confucius, he implemented the first humanistic turn of musical education in the Zhou era. An attempt is made to analyze from humanistic perspective Zhou Gong’s ideas and their impact on the culture and politics of China. The humanistic concepts and moral principles contained in his ideas are shown to play an important role in shaping the mentality of the Chinese and are still of great practical value.
