Abstract

As the society transitions from a hierarchical structure to a more egalitarian structure, coexistence, cooperation, and networking have been the key tasks in aiming toward decentralization, down-sizing, destandardization. Companies offer customized services to individuals, educational institutions provide opportunities to fit individual’s needs, and leadership styles have changed accordingly. Especially the role of a coach - a companion in life who listens to questions and concerns and empowers someone to overcome their dilemmas and chart their way in life - receives increased attention. Missional coaching is based on the character of God who coaches humans by embracing them with love and leads them to a new understanding. This study contributes to the development of a missional coaching model by considering the film, “The Shack” (2017) as a case study of missional coaching.
