Abstract
The article is devoted to the consideration of a pedagogical lexeme Upbringing in psycholinguistic aspect. The aim of the research is to reveal and describe psycholinguistic meaning of the lexeme Upbringing in language consciousness of native speakers of Russian. Different methods including descriptive and quantitative ones were used in the research. The results of the method of subjective definitions were the material of the study. The inquiry took place in 2021, with 154 people (men and woman of different ages and social status) taking part in it. The results were processed and distributed among semantic zones. The main body and the peripheries (short-range, long-distance and extreme-distance ones) of the field organization of the lexeme Upbringing were marked out in agreement with the quantitative fullness. It was the second research step. The semantic zone “The processes connected with human’s taking up to the social standards and norms” is the main body of the field. The semantic zone “The results of the impact on the personality” is the short-range periphery of the field. The semantic zone “Factors affecting personality” is the long-distance field periphery. Two semantic zones, “Knowledge and realities necessary for the process of influencing the personality” and “Evaluation of the results of the impact on the personality”, are the extreme-distance peripheries of the semantic field. The last research step was the formulation of six psycholinguistic meanings of the lexeme Upbringing in the language consciousness of native Russian speakers. Moreover, short description of psycholinguistic meanings was made. At the end of the article, the authors define further research prospects as a comparison of psycholinguistic meanings with lexicographic ones.
