Abstract

The article considers artistic originality of the novella “The Amulet” by the classic of the XIX-century Swiss literature Conrad Ferdinand Meyer. The researchers’ attention is focused on compositional peculiarities. Frame construction, climax, denouement are analysed, story-formative conflicts are identified, dynamic and static motives are examined. The paper argues that the thesaurus approach, which is for the first time applied to reveal specificity of C. F. Meyer’s artistic world, is the most efficient while studying the novella’s motive structure.
