Abstract
The paper analyzes current trends in the suicide risk studies and the development of strategies for sui-cide prevention in Russia and around the world. Data on the structure of suicidal risk are presented, which include, according to foreign researchers, affective, cognitive and behavioral characteristics. The paper presents the concept of increasing poten-tial risk factors and predictors by M.D. Rudd and his colleagues. The theory of suicidal barometer devel-oped by K.M. Harris and her colleagues is also ana-lyzed. In addition, the theory of the historiogenesis of suicidal behavior by L.N. Yurieva is described in detail, along with the model of suicidal behavior of A.G. Ambrumova. An analysis of key foreign and domestic approaches to determining suicidal risk and its factors allowed the authors to develop and present a concept of the main components of sui-cidal prevention.
