Abstract
This article contains a chronicle of the International scholarly conference “Russian Colloquial Speech of the Beginning of the 21st Century” (the Fourteenth Shmelev Readings), devoted to various aspects of the study of the colloquial speech in recent decades, in particular its lexicographic description, changes in its social and communicative status, active processes in colloquial vocabulary, phonetics, and syntax.
