Abstract

This review article assesses the implementation of the national project Small and Medium Enterprises and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives in 2019-2020. For a year now, Russia has been in a regime of severe restrictions on activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The author assesses the functioning of small and medium-sized businesses in the period under study. An analysis of statistics shows that, despite the appearance of the coronavirus in 2020, the number of small businesses also decreased in 2019. For example, the number of retail outlets decreased by 1.1 times, and hotels and catering establishments by 26 times. The Russian government is taking financial and organizational measures as part of the implementation of the national project Small and Medium Enterprises and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives.These measures make it possible to support not only small and medium-sized businesses in Russia, but also its financial institutions - commercial banks.
