Abstract
The article focuses on the impact of ideology on the formation of concepts about social development. There is a brief review of the main criteria of social progress. The indications of a technocratic approach to the modernization of Russia are distinguished. The author suggests the principles of a spiritual approach to social development. The article explains negative effects of withdrawal of Russia from the spiritual principles.
