Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the changes in preschool teachers' perceptions of communication disorders after an educational program called the Early Screening for Communication Disorders Program(ESC), which was developed in this study to provide a better understanding of the communication disorders and to help the screening process of it. A total of 58 preschool teachers working at national and public daycare centers in Busan participated in this study. The results of this study are summarized as follows. The preschool teachers' overall understandings and perceptions of communication disorders were statistically higher after the ESC program. Also, all questions related to the satisfaction of preschool teachers with the ESC education program were rated 4.50 or higher on a 5-point scale. This study suggests that more educational programs related to communication disorders should be available for preschool teachers and it also provides supporting data to help the screening process of communication disorders in young children.
