Abstract

The article provides a historical review of the epidemics that swept Russia from the Middle Ages to the present day, spanning from the plague to the coronavirus. It presents detailed information on the primary measures taken by government officials, medical personnel, and public organizations to counteract the spread of infec-tious diseases. The article examines the causes, prevention strategies, and consequences of these epidemics, analyzing the factors that influenced the scale and spread of diseases. The analysis of scientific literature and historical documents reveals how societal development was impacted by the spread of infections and the high mortality rates, as well as how medical practices and treatment methods for various diseases have evolved over time. Conclusion dwells upon the fact that the experience of past epidemics has played a crucial role in humanity's ongoing battle against many illnesses and has significantly altered perceptions regarding the im-portance of preventive measures during epidemics.
