Abstract

The article examines regional identity markers in the leading media publications. The author analyses the words representing different types of regional identity: residents of Krasnodar territory, Arkhangelsk residents, Pomors, Kuban Cossacks, Northerners and Southerners. Regional identity markers are classified into three groups according to the context: integrating, differentiating and neutralizing ones. The analysis of interaction between the types of context and regional identity markers allows the author to conclude that the leading media publications of the Russian National Corpus represent different levels of regional identity awareness.
