Abstract

The article proposes theoretical and methodological tools to study translation in the cognitive and psycholinguistic aspect. Cognitive and psycholinguistic features of translation are described according to the following parameters: 1) degree of information transfer; 2) correlation of deep and surface structures and conformity of surface structures to the source language and target language; 3) adequacy of verbal images in the source language and target language; 4) quality of inner speech processing; 5) translator’s competences, strategies and individual style. The findings can be used while developing a cognitive and psycholinguistic algorithm for studying translation, teaching translation and assessing translation quality.
