Abstract
The article considers the problem that complicates the operational work of port railways: the discrepancy between the capacity of the crossings and the processing capabilities of port stations, leading to the lagging of trains from traffic. The authors have analyzed the reasons for the train delay, and also proposed some measures to reduce the consequences of the delay, such as reducing the total cost of detaching the train from traffic and its further rise by choosing a departure station. The authors have formulated basic conditions that a train departure station must meet in order to organize a safe transportation process and minimize total costs.
