Abstract
In the Nikolaev Engineering Academy and School, as in other military educational institutions of the Russian Empire, there were their own festive traditions. On the one hand, they were part of the official state calendar of high − occasion dates, on the other hand, they reflected the specifics of the educational institution. The work, carried out on the basis of a wide range of sources − orders and circulars of the military department, documents of personal origin, archival materials, analyzed the structure of the holidays of military schools, the lawmaking of the Pedagogical Committee of the Main Directorate of Military Educational Institutions in relation to the entertainment and entertainment activities of cadets, as well as features of festive rites, concerts, balls, literary and charitable meetings and anniversaries. In addition, special attention is paid to the professional and socio-cultural environment of music and dance evenings of the Nikolaev engineering school and academy and the Main engineering directorate.
