Abstract

The article discusses problems of ethnic behavior are discussed in terms of Lev Nikolaevich Gumilyov’s biosphere concept of ethnogenesis. The central issue of the paper is to discuss the possibility of choosing a separate ethnic community among different superethnic groups. Current examples related to military operations in Ukraine and the migration of representatives of other superethnic groups to Western Europe demonstrate the vulnerability of dominant ideas about national identity and the preferability of studying ethnic processes as a flow of a single long-lived behavior that arises as a result of explosions of ethnogenesis in the Earth's biosphere. In this context, a change in the super-ethnicity of a separate ethnic group is possible only as a result of complete assimilation.
