Abstract
This article is devoted to the study of the modern state of domestic tourism in Russia. The study determined the importance of the development of the domestic tourism market, considered the key features of the domestic tourism industry, analyzed the existing strategic directions for the development of the tourism industry. It was noted that at the moment in Russia, as in a number of other countries, domestic tourism prevails over outbound tourism, and the coronavirus pandemic has intensified this trend. This gives impetus to the development of domestic tourism in our country in various directions — cultural, educational, entertainment tourism, etc. It was noted that the key factor restraining the development of domestic tourism in Russia is the lack of modern infrastructure — hotels, resort and urban infrastructure, low transport accessibility of a number of facilities, especially in the Asian part of the country. The priority tasks of the Tourism Development Strategy in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2035 were disclosed, a conclusion was made on the priority direction of state assistance to the industry — the development of tourist infrastructure.
