In the production of butyl alcohols using cobalt carbonyls as a catalyst, the ratio of isobutanol to n-butanol is approximately 1:2, and adjustment is only possible within narrow range. Isobutanol, unlike n-butanol, is a more popular product, so increasing its yield is important
