Abstract
The paper discusses the issue of sudden imbalance of reactive power in transmission network. The article provides a formula based on which it is possible to estimate change of nodal voltages in transmission network during a sudden imbalance of reactive power. The mentioned problem is discussed on the example of transmission network of Georgian power system, where source of sudden imbalance of reactive power is emergency shutdown of shunt reactors. In the article there is calculated own and mutual impedances of nodes of Georgian transmission network and is evaluated change of nodal voltages during the sudden imbalance of reactive power.
