Abstract
In the Security Services Industry Ac(Act No. 20266), which was partially revised on February 13, 2024, several meaningful measures related to the security instructor system were newly established. The revised Security Services Industry Act established a continuing education system for security instructors, established grounds for designation and cancellation of designation as security instructor training institutions, and established a mandatory provision for reporting the dismissal of security instructors. Through these legal revisions, some of the shortcomings that had been requested in academia and practice have been improved and supplemented, but there are still some disappointing aspects. Accordingly, this study made suggestions for future revisions to the Security Services Industry Act related to security instructor. These suggestions include improvement of the basic education curriculum, expansion of continuing education hours, changes in test subjects, improvement of the first test exemption system, expansion of test successful candidates, raising of age standards, strengthening of standards for selection and placement of guard instructors, and full-time security instructor system. Lastly, I expect that this study will be of some help in the operation of security instructors in accordance with the revised Security Services Industry Act and in the future revision of the Security Services Industry Act related to security instructors.
