Abstract

Amid the increasing role of science, one of the priories of public administration is rethinking target areas of scientific funding. The concept of attracting investments into interdisciplinary scientific research is sought after in order to increase the efficiency of the funds allocated for funding. Introduction of changes in the current strategic documents of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation is aimed at developing a unified approach to interdisciplinarity support and is expected to improve the competitiveness of Russian science. The historical and systematic approaches, comparative analysis and content analysis were used in the study, as well as data from Russian Federal State Statistics Service, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
