Sexual traits associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can lead to difficulties in the fulfilment of sex-related support needs. Aiming to identify sexual traits and sex-related support needs of people with ASD, this study analyzed 64 studies conducted over the past 10 years (2014-2023). Content analysis helped extract three main topics with regard to the sexual traits of people with ASD: (1) ASD-related traits; (2) various gender identities and sexual orientations; and (3) sexual vulnerability. Furthermore, 24 documents, including those concerning sex-related support needs, were analyzed to identify “difficulties in sex-related support” and “areas of sex-related support needs,” and 7 sex education and sex-related intervention studies were also analyzed to investigate the characteristics of intervention studies conducted so far. Lastly, concerns and related needs involving to develop sex education and sex-related supports were discussed.
