Abstract

The role of libraries in preserving the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples is significant and multi-faceted. Libraries build up collections of information resources in indigenous languages, carry out extensive research work, generate bibliographic databases, conduct cultural and educational activities, organize exhibi-tions. These activities support the preservation and promotion of the local tangible and intangible cultural heritage, the written and spoken indigenous languages. This is aimed at developing young people’s interest and responsible attitude to the languages and cultures of the indigenous peoples of Russia.
