Abstract

In this study, a total of 88 studies in domestic academic journals related to suicide crisis response by university student counseling organizations were explored. The results were intended to discuss ways to improve the university counseling center's services. In order to organize a discussion on suicide crisis intervention at university student counseling organizations, studies were classified and trends were identified by distinguishing approaches by research method, research topic, and crisis intervention period. The results of the study confirmed that many studies were conducted to identify factors affecting suicidal behavior and relate them to prevention education, but it was confirmed that more research related to crisis intervention and follow-up management is needed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The discussion derived from the results is as follows. First, although this study confirmed the quantitative expansion of suicide prevention education, efforts to improve quality are needed. Second, it is necessary to cooperate between departments within the university to establish a university suicide crisis response system. Third, there is a need for qualitative changes in counselor education to professionalize suicide crisis response within universities - systematic expert training, diversification of training content, and establishment of a suicide crisis response model. Lastly, administrative and institutional changes are needed to support suicide response crisis counseling at university student counseling organizations.
