Abstract

The paper considers ideas developed by Konstantin D. Ushinsky’s and argues their relevance for modern-day education and pedagogy. Issues analyzed in the paper include the meaning behind education and upbringing as well as their correlation, ways of shaping social and pedagogical consciousness, interrelation between theory and practice of education, pedagogy as an art, the folk principle, the anthropological principle, the nature conformity principle, the role of labor, and didactic ideas.
