Abstract

The characteristics of spatiotemporal distribution of the amount of precipitation within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan between 1961 and 2016 were investigated using observational data from 45 hydrometeorological stations. Main attention is paid to regional features. The statistical analysis for three time periods — 1881–1960, 1961–2016 and 1991–2016 — showed that an increase in average annual total precipitation was registered in most of the country in 1961–2016 as opposed to 1881–1960. In addition to this, a decrease in average annual total precipitation for 1991–2016 as compared to 1961–1990 was found for most stations. The results of the study may be useful for scientific research, as well as for developing and implementing projects in agriculture and other economic sectors.
