Abstract

Objective: the forming of a linguocultural competence of future engineers and architects in the conditions of the Federal State Educational Standard, the development of skills to correlate value-significant and professionally-oriented foreign language material; development of skills to analyze, compare, generalize, classify selected lexical units according to thematic characteristics. Applied methods: General scientific logical-deductive method, empirical research method, descriptive method with its main components (observation, interpretation and generalization). Results . The implementation of the research project "Linguocultural functioning of Moscow architectural monuments" contributes to the development of motivation and linguocultural competence of future building engineers and architects, the desire for self-improvement through the conscious and active acquisition of new social experience and knowledge. A detailed description of the cultural and historical development of ancient buildings in Moscow has been compiled, a thematic analysis of the used words and concepts, including their English equivalents, has been carried out. Conclusions: The article emphasizes the importance of using project activities in mastering linguocultural competence by future specialists in the field of "Construction", in developing students' ability and interest in self-development, assimilation of new knowledge and research skills.
