Abstract
The article discusses the issues of determining the motives of applicants for admission to the Faculty of Physical Education and identifying the reasons. The survey was conducted on groups of students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the State University of Education. 90 students of different sports specializations took part in the survey: 31 1st year students, 20 2nd year students, 23 3rd year students and 16 4th year students. As a result of the survey, the leading motives for admission were identified, the types and ratios of internal and external motives for admission were established, differences in admission motives depending on the applicant's gender were revealed. The results obtained can serve as a basis for the development of a questionnaire with a dichotomous interval rating scale, in which the weight of each answer will be evaluated by the respondent in points, and the final score will be calculated as the average weight of all answers.
