Abstract

The relevance of the sustainable concept of development and the formation of a behavior model is the basis of the economic activity of the transport sector. The implementation of a strategy formulated taking into account the goals of sustainable development is always accompanied by a positive effect for the transport company and, in general, for any company and society as a whole. The key areas for evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the transport sector are: environmental; economic; social. Management of the sustainable development of the transport sector involves the formation of an appropriate system, within which a necessary element is a mechanism for evaluating the object of management. Among the passive elements of the evaluation mechanism, special attention is paid to the methods used. The article considers the method of assessing the potential of sustainable development of a transport enterprise, which consists in determining the integral value of a number of indicators selected taking into account the specifics of the industry, as well as indices of these indicators for a certain period. The potential for sustainable development of the transport enterprise is considered as a characteristic that reflects the ability of the object being evaluated to function in accordance with the requirements made by interested parties (cargo polluters, passengers) to the transport enterprise. Numerical values of the indicators and interpretation of the obtained integral indicator are carried out taking into account the constructed sectoral profile of sustainable development. This approach involves the involvement of the method of expert evaluations within the scope of the evaluation. The application of this methodology within the framework of the development management system will allow to increase the information security of the subject of management before making relevant management decisions. The prospects of this study are that the assessment of the potential of sustainable development, in addition to providing information for internal users, becomes especially relevant in light of the spread and strengthening of requirements for public non-financial reporting of business entities.
