Abstract

In the future, wind power and solar power, which are major renewable energy sources in Korea, have intermittent output characteristics. Accordingly, if the proportion of renewable energy sources input to the power system increases, various problems arise in adjusting power supply and demand in real time, and the quality of electric power may also be degraded.BR Therefore, the capacity of an energy storage device (ESS) was calculated in this paper to accommodate all planned new and renewable energy sources to solve problems that may arise in the power system under the premise of “A Study on the Wind &Solar Power Acceptable Capacity of Korea Electric Power System on Frequency Stability”, “A Study on the Local Characteristics by Wind&Solar Power on Korea Electric Power System”, and “A Study on the Wind &Solar Power Acceptable Capacity of Korea Electric Power System according to System Operation Reserve”.
