Abstract

The article is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of St. Paisii Hilendarski (1722 – 1773) and is therefore written in a more emotional way and somewhat in his style. It comments on Paisii's theses on the language and faith of the Bulgarian people, on statehood and spirituality, on knowledge and education. As a result, it is assumed that the national idea of Paisii Hilendarski is the fourleaved clover of Bulgarianness – according to him, the happiness of the Bulgarian people lies in the unity of language – clan – faith – Fatherland. His message is about catharsis in the soul of the Bulgarians – reached by knowing oneʼs native languge, fighting for the independence of the church and uprising for national liberation.
