Abstract

The article discusses development of passenger motor transport in Ulyanovsk region in 1956-1965. Relevance of the problem is determined by the fact that passenger transport is an important component of urban economy, which plays the key role in achieving economic growth and maintaining territorial integrity of states. The study is based on the periodical press materials and previously unknown archival sources from the funds of the State Archives of Contemporary History of Ulyanovsk Region, State Archives of Ulyanovsk Region and State Archives of the Russian Federation. The authors examine the measures taken by the local party bodies to increase efficiency of the motor transport system. The paper highlights tendencies of passenger transport development, describes problems and achievements in this sphere.
