Abstract
The article is devoted to industrial architecture. Examples of old and modern industrial aesthetics, the tendency to use underground space for buildings and structures are considered. Examples of underground placement of industrial and civil buildings, warehouses, shelters and nuclear facilities, in particular, nuclear power plants and particle accelerators, are shown. The advantages of using underground space in terms of efficiency, safety of underground facilities and the envi-ronment, sound insulation, integrity of the architectural landscape and urban infrastructure are described.
