Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a personality Coaching program for children based on the core virtues of humanity extracted from the analysis of the “Gyehyang Jang 『Haeng-sil-gi』”And we tried to verify the effectiveness of Personality Coaching Program by applying this program to elementary school students. The research purpose was does the Personality Coaching Program developed on the basis of “Gyehyang Jang 『Haeng-sil-gi』” improve the child's personality development? is.Twenty students in the fourth grade of elementary school in Y county in Gyeongsangbuk-do were used as the experimental group and 18 students in the same class in the same school as the control group. The Personality Coaching Program was conducted from September to October, 2016, twice a week during 50 minutes for five weeks. The KEDI personality test was used to examine the pre-post program effects of the program, and the Wilcoxon Signed-Runk Test, a non-parametric study sample variance test, was performed was used statistically.The results of the study are as follows.First, according to 10 characteristics of KEDI personality test, we analyzed contents of “Gyehyang Jang 『Haeng-sil-gi』. Through this, it was possible to extract self-esteem, sincerity, consideration and communication, social responsibility, courtesy, self-management, sincerity, courage and wisdom. And based on this, we developed Personality Coaching program.Second, after performing the Personality Coaching Program, the Differential Verification between the experimental group and the control group showed that the personality average score of the experimental group was significantly higher than the personality average score of the control group. This implies that the Personality Coaching Program based on the “Gyehyang Jang 『Haeng-sil-gi』”, is effective in positively affecting the personality development of the child.Therefore, it was found that the Personality Coaching Program based on the “GyeHyang Jang 『Haeng-sil-gi』”, is effective in positively affecting the personality development of the child.
