Abstract
The paper reveals genesis of non-academic forms to introduce classical musical heritage to the modern audience. The article describes diffusion of elite and mass musical culture in the space of (post)modern sociocultural reality, analyses classical crossover as a new musical trend synthesizing elements of elite and mass culture. Scientific originality of the study involves a comprehensive analysis of interrelations of elite and mass art. The research findings are as follows: the author proves that appearance of classical crossover indicates a growing tendency for popularization and commercialization of classical music.
