Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the semantic-syntactic properties of the textual connector “in this sense” in modern texts. The article considers the semantic and functional features of the textual connector “in this sense”. A connection with the polyfunctional lexeme “in the sense” is established. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the representation of the lexeme “in the sense” in the composition of the textual connector is absent despite its various auxiliary uses described in the linguistic literature. As a result, it was determined that the participation of the lexeme “in the sense” in the composition of the textual connector “in this sense” is one of the manifestations of its auxiliarity; the connector itself has functional independence, the meaning of the components undergoes lexicalization, due to which it acquires its own meaning in the text.
