Abstract

The article considers the problem of orthographic variability in the modern Yakut language. The paper aims to describe variant (hyphenated or non-hyphenated) spellings of the Yakut words. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author for the first time analyses orthographical variants of the Yakut language by the material of normative lexicographical sources. The findings indicate that orthographic variability most often manifests itself in the usage of hyphen. It is shown that the problem of orthographic variability is poorly investigated and requires further study.
