The experience of technical and technological modernization of the crop industry in a large agricultural region of Southern Russia - the Rostov region - is studied. Taking into account the author’s coefficients for determining the normative need for the main types of agricultural machinery, recommended parameters for updating the machine and tractor fleet of the region have been developed, allowing to provide the agricultural sector with new generation equipment and increase its competitiveness.
