Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore college students’ experiences of writing in English using YouTube comments. For this research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with twelve first-year college students and data were analyzed by qualitative method. The main results are summarized as follows. First, students’ experience of writing in English have an influence on improving English writing skills and their perceptions on necessity of learning English writing is very positive. Second, YouTube as a learning tool in writing helps college students to become autonomous and active learners. Third, leaving comments on Youtube is not one-size-fits-all approach to teaching English writing. Fourth, a learner-centered environment facilitates a more way for students to learn English writing.
