Abstract
Introduction. The article analyzes artifacts largely identified as Buddhist cult objects constituting an individual collection at Novocherkassk Museum of Don Cossack History. Goals. The paper aims to investigate the items of the ‘Kalmyk’ collection and introduce a complete list of the latter into scientific circulation for further expert analyses. Results. The study reveals some inaccuracies in museum labels and suggests new attribution details thereto. The ‘Kalmyk’ collection at Novocherkassk Museum of Don Cossack History is distinguished by that its pieces share somewhat common origin, and are directly related to Don Kalmyk Cossacks whose military service did leave its traces on the artifacts. The collection needs further detailed insights how it actually took shape, and a number of items require further attribution efforts since it is still unclear where and when they came from.
