Abstract

This study is a descriptive research study to identify the relationship between social support, social responsibility, and college life adaptation of nursing students in order to lead a positive college life for nursing students. The subjects of the study were 191 students in the first to fourth grades of a work nursing college located in G city. The data collection period was from September 1 to September 15, 2022, using a structured self-report questionnaire. The survey tools are social support, social responsibility, and adaptation to college life. A total of 191 copies were used for the final analysis after confirming the minimum number of subjects using G Power 3.1.2. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviationt-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation ciefficients, multiple linear regression using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. As a result of the study, The average social support score was 4.34±0.66, Social responsibility score was 3.98±0.55, and College life Adjustment score was 3.54±0.69. There was a positive correlation between Social support and Social responsibility(r=.67, p<.001), Social support and College life Adjustment(r=.50, p<.001), Social responsibility and College life adaptation(r=.49, p<.001). In addition, the explanatory power of these variables for College life Adjustment was 29%(F=38.39, p<.001), Social responsibility(β=.28, p<.001) Social support(β=.31, p<.001) were found to have an effect on College life Adjustment. It was confirmed that social support and social responsibility are important factors influencing college life adaptation. Nursing colleges should improve social support and social responsibility for students' adaptation to college life. herefore, it is necessary to develop and apply interpersonal relationship improvement programs and humanities education programs to improve social support and social responsibility.
