Abstract

The article examines the method of synthesis through the phenomenon of love based on the works of the Rus-sian religious philosopher S.L. Frank. This study analyzes the approach of ontognoseological synthesis, which implies a transrational comprehension of the “I-you” relationship with the discernment of the primary basis of being or true reality. According to Frank’s concept, such a basis is the phenomenon of love. Besides, it is re-vealed that this phenomenon has a dual nature and is expressed in two opposite categories: “recognition” and “possession”. However, the synthesis contains the possibility of overcoming this contradiction with the dominant attitude towards the recognition of another person. Therein is revealed the moment of “unity” or striving for wholeness. Conclusion dwells upon the fact that synthesis in the light of love is a fathoming of the “incompre-hensible” fullness of authentic primordial reality, which expresses the essence of philosophical self-knowledge. Hence, according to S.L. Frank’s approach, to be – means to love.
